Wolfe, Thomas (Clayton)
(3 oct. 1900, Asheville, N.C., EE.UU.–15 sep. 1938, Baltimore, Md.).

Escritor norteamericano. Wolfe estudió en la Universidad de Carolina del Norte y en 1923 se trasladó a la ciudad de Nueva York, donde enseñó en la Universidad de Nueva York, al tiempo que escribía obras de teatro. El ángel que nos mira (1929), su primera y más conocida novela, y Of Time and the River [Del tiempo y del río] (1935) son autobiografías apenas encubiertas bajo el velo de obras de ficción. En Historia de una novela (1936) describe su cercana relación de trabajo con el editor Maxwell Perkins, quien lo ayudó a organizar los caóticos manuscritos de sus dos primeros libros hasta darles una forma publicable. Sus cuentos fueron publicados en From Death to Morning [De la muerte a la mañana] (1935). Después de su muerte, a la edad de 37 años a causa de tuberculosis, las novelas The Web and the Rock [La telaraña y la roca] (1939) y You Can't Go Home Again [No se puede volver a casa] (1940) fueron halladas entre sus manuscritos.
